I am not fond of sweet glazes etc... any suggestions on seasoning or bastes that are good on ham that aren't sweet?

Salt water injection
Lightly slathered with horseradish mustard

I like the sounds of that but I have a kid that hates mustard.

not sure about glazes, but i would think taking some fresh lime juice and pineapple juice mixed with some avocado oil and make a mash with serranos, crushed long pepper, and crushed Szechuan peppercorns.. smear it over the ham about a quarter/hallway in... flavor really depends on type of wood you're smoking over - I'd probably smoke over either apple or cherry wood (cherry would add its own sweetness)

Marinate it in teriyaki sauce mixed with ginger, garlic and caramelized onions.

Baste it every 10-15 minutes as desired while cooking.

I just thought of this for the first time and have no idea what it'll taste like but why not baste with bacon the tastiest part of the pig. I'd think putting it on later in the cooking process so the ham absorbs some of the bacon grease either on the outside or in slits you put in so it goes deep inside. Sure would surprise the eaters if they had no idea what you did and didn't leave the bacon on it.

How did it turn out?

I am actually starting it now. I think the glaze I am going to try (yes it's sweet) but I couldn't find any savory recipes I liked. I will use a glaze of Apricot jam, soy sauce, and Siracha.

Steamed hams are even better
