This is why you only work with products that are local-first or local-only. If you rely on "someone else's computer" you are going to have a bad time. Im glad I never bought any of that MyQ stuff since that would really piss me off to have to scrap it all and replace it.

I would characterize it as more of a hoarding. I'd buy 10 at a time because they were so cheap. Then I'd find even cooler versions and buy 10 of those too. I had no projects in mind but bought them because I didn't want to be stuck with no supply, like Raspberry Pi.
