It's meaningless, because the UK is spending more on this solar power program than they would have spend on conventional sources of fuel, which are not only perfectly fine to use, but actually do the environment immense good by releasing more carbon dioxide into the air, which the entire planet needs. Earth is presently starved of CO2. The more of it that gets into the air, the better for all life, but especially for food crops that feed millions of people who would otherwise starve to death. Increased CO2 levels sustain those crops, and those who eat them.
