You aren't wrong, although this twitter feed looks to belong to a photographer/reporter (?) who works for The Age, which is sort of like Melbourne's equivalent of the New York Times.
Anyone who follows on twitter in Melbourne would be the same type of left-leaning person that would follow the New York Times in the USA. Except more people tend to ignore The Age entirely nowdays; they nearly went broke due to poor readership a few times.
