You aren't wrong, although this twitter feed looks to belong to a photographer/reporter (?) who works for The Age, which is sort of like Melbourne's equivalent of the New York Times.
Anyone who follows @theage on twitter in Melbourne would be the same type of left-leaning person that would follow the New York Times in the USA. Except more people tend to ignore The Age entirely nowdays; they nearly went broke due to poor readership a few times.
