In a sense it already is; women price the value of their body and sex like any efficient market. Market distortions like divorce-rape, children/pregnancy/abortion as bargaining tools, alimony/custody, "metoo" all affect the frequency and price of sexual transactions.

I'd make it legal, but it carries a scarlet letter all the woman's life (I guess some dudes will do it too) so no man would unknowingly settle down with one.

Men marry porn actresses, so I'd guess they'd also marry whores. Or ex-whores. If that's the kind of wife they want, it's their choice. I think most rational men would agree with your scarlet letter comment, however.

Legal but still shamed

I think it should be legal but not feasible. It would be tough to tax. Women would reeeee around the world screaming my body and such. If it were to become legal would there be a school to learn the trade? A degree in whore? Doctorates of double penetration and oral?

What about all the pimps that would be out of a job because of the legalization of their illegal property? Think about the pimps.

Don't tell me you wouldn't apply to be an instructor there

I would sit in on the oral boards.

Maybe there would be a practicum

In my state a person is allowed to sell x amount of automobiles in a year before they have to get a car dealers licence.

It could be like that. A person could be allowed to make a little money on the side up to a point. Then you have to get registered & start paying taxes.

Ever seen the show Firefly? It's in the future & prostitution is legal. They're called "Companions". The best companions are educated at special schools and are sought after by elites across the galaxy.

The libertarian in me thinks that any interaction between consenting adults should be legal. The pragmatist in me knows that any system will be exploited by those who would cause harm to others for profit. Is there a balance that could be struck? I suppose so, but where would the line be drawn? I imagine that one could look into Nevada's statutes surrounding prostitution and extrapolate from there.

I really could care one way or the other. Personally, I think those of any sociology-economic group who keep the oldest profession in business are the scum of the Earth. But to each his own, I suppose. The real problem with it is the exploitation of the prostitutes themselves. In many cases it's nothing more than modern day slavery, with the victims being those most vulnerable in society. If anything, I'd throw the key to their cells away for the Johns and Pimps.

If we assert that all women are whores -- and we do becuase of yet we have not heard sound and convincing evidence to the contrary -- then in effect it is already. Unfortunately the form certain individuals practice puts them at odds with the law.

Except my mother of course, she's a saint.

Legal but controlled.

I am pretty sure if prostitution were legal in the whole country, rapes and murders would decrease at least a little. Some weirdos need prostitutes. Some weirdos are sex addicts and end up murdering hookers because they cant afford them. If prostitution is legal, the price goes down.I obtained this theory from watching alot of murder mystery shows over the years.

I would prefer we raise a generation of women who value chastity and purity who devote themselves to ra8sing their family.

Its called dating and its legal already. Always buy the meal when you take a girl out? Shes a whore. Always buying flowers and chocolate for valentines day, and all you get in return is vday sex? Whore. Pay all the bills and buy all the things while she takes care of the home/kids? Nanny/maid/whore
