They were decent back then, so it wouldn't be too far-fetched to think that JOOtube is forcing people into filter bubbles and completely isolating wrongthinkers with generated comment sections.

These days I feel like most humans fail the Turing Test. It is not that the bots have gotten better... it is that the general populace has lost the skill of critical thinking and rational debate.
