Do you mean something like believing in objective evil, while rejecting dualistic cosmology? By dualistic cosmology I mean good and evil are complementary. I'm terribly knowlegeable in this area (or many others) so you'll have to hold my hand a bit.

I never really felt good and evil were both necessary complements. I think the love of my family would mean the same in a world without rape and murder.

I mean, if you can have platonic good, how can you not have its opposite? The concept of good rests in its being distinct from evil, so how could one exist without the other?
