This one is a first for me. It wasn't my fault, the company got shut down by the state. I'm a little depressed about it. I'm sure it will be easy to find another job but probably not one as meaningful. Its got me a little bummed out. Add family drama to that and personal drama and paol drama.

Anyone else ever been laid off? How'd you feel about it?

it blows... hell, ive been fired when i was younger for dumb decisions.. but you know what? i always ended up better off after shitty things happened in regards to work. if you are a hard worker and not as dumb as a brick it WILL work out.

I'll be fine, it just sucks. Honestly there are way higher paying jobs i can get around here but none that will offer as much meaning or putting good into the world

in todays day and age planning on retiring from a specific job/place is a rarity. think of em as stepping stones. my last job i worked at i was there for 16 years (!). i walked away from it at 40 and took a 24k pay cut for a job (rarity) with a future and a pension and kickass health benefits. within 5 years ill be making more than when i left the job of 16 years... it will get better.

oh I'm sure it will, I'm not worried this is just the first time I have ever been let go so to speak. It weighs on me. Could I have done something more. you know.
