Also... meant that I have 2 hands... not that I've gotten 2 handjobs lol
Floors. It's so easy, never fancied paying 100%+ the cost of the flooring to have someone put it in. Just finished an entire house in wood. Put in trim work/replaced baseboards, shoemolding, did some wainscoting. I haven't gotten there yet, but plan to do those ceiling tiles in my kitchen, it's going to be purrrrty :). Obviously I do my own paint, too. I don't mind painting at all as long as I have a podcast or something going.
I needed a goat stand for milking as well as hoof trimming, medicating, clipping, etc. Built that shit in a couple hours out of scraps vs paying $200 ish for one. Would've taken less time if I had just bought the wood instead of scrounging from the leftovers, but what can I say, I'm a cheapass.
Yard work. Only time I've ever paid for it was after we'd moved and sold the house, and the agent wanted us to cut the yard "one more time" for the new owners. Our old place everyone had a yard guy, except us. Amusingly, our grass usually looked better than everyone else's. I have this tool that yanks up weeds and leaves the grass, works great. Don't need to do that anymore now though, our livestock eats them.
Light fixture replacements/swapping out fans. Countertops, made them out of wood and sealed with epoxy. Fencing. Installation of new appliances.
We pretty much do everything ourselves. We did pay for the roof to be done because the grade is so steep. Paid to have HVAC put in.
I medicate my own goats and chickens. Have a microscope to run fecals. I have several antibiotics, painkillers, etc on hand. Try to go natural when I can, as my goat just had mastitis and we got through it with some natural oils instead of doing a round of antibiotics, then being out of milk for two weeks or so.
I wish I knew how to do the car stuff. I didn't grow up with my dad so I never learned. Husband just retired so he's home now, but in the past he has been assigned away from home and only home on the weekends, so I always took the vehicles in for all maintenance. I read and watched some videos on the basic things like what you referenced, and almost ordered the stuff to do it. One day :).
I did my whole house in tongue and groove style boards, upstairs and downstairs on separate occasions. Not sure I'd bother w/ doing the traditional way. Carpet is generally cheaper but I hate that shit. I'd rather steam than suck.
Transport my guns during moves.
Yeah, that's just advertising to get robbed.
Oh painting, I loathe that shit but the wifey doesn't mind it so much. I move the furniture, she paints the room. My happiness isn't determined by shit matching tho. It's mainly determined by functionality.
cleaning, diagnosing simple medical conditions, cook, computer help "back when I was a newb and learned a lot by doing that" , simple repairs.
Nice. Doing these things can teach engineering, even though sometimes mistakes happen.
Oil changes.
Go figure, I'll pay some losers to wash my car or maybe boat, but I ALWAYS do my own oil changes.
That just is the way it is. I'll wax my own car... w/ an electric buffer. I certainly wouldn't do that shit by hand. What am I? Black?
I covet those gizmoes every so often. I should probably get one myself, but I like pretending to be karate kid: WAX ON, WAX OFF! And then I feel ever so slightly more pumped up after, and the car stays shinier for awhile.

It just depends if I have time, but I'm the same with a lot of what you mentioned. Or if it just too complicated. Sometimes you know whats wrong with something to where a professional will.
So it the time saved and throwing parts at something to where it makes sense to me.
there been a few things i payed labor/parts for like lawnmower, truck.... I think I might have them do my water pump too. It has been weeping and the seal, i just dont feel like doing it.
"To where"?
Do you speak English?
That really is the crux of the issue. Time/Value. When I see fat people on welfare that won't even change their own oil... that shit makes me angry. I'll never get mad about how people spend their money. I will get mad about how people spend mine (aka taxpayer).
Cut my hair...save about $120 per year
i refuse to pay people to give me monies.... no thanks again shitsrael!!!
I refuse to pay someone to boss me around. Been out of paying taxes for a while now.
Sike, I have to pay that even if these guys mess up the job 90% of the time. Pretty good gig they have going.
Plus I hear low key that they get paid extra to not do their job for some people, but that might be a myth. Pretty good gig indeed.
Just thought of another one. Drywall repairs. I absolutely hate the shit. Like seriously. Makes me wanna rip my hair out. I do it anyways. Installing the shit new is easier than coming back and sanding some shit 5 times and applying primer you sand so you don't notice it. If you pay someone to do this you get piss poor results b/c they won't come back enough to make it seamless and they're not gonna primer shit and your wall will look like shit.
