I don't want anything political though, I need something to escape from all that crap.

I am pretty picky about what I read though. Most of the stuff I see sitting out on the shelves at the store are pop culture dime store novel drivel that bores me.

From the latter I learned how to get out a perpendicular line without a square using a tape measure.
