Multiple species all here observing us, trying to avoid disturbance, it probably has to do with our broadcasts and what retarded elites say about racism and bigotry, but also about how easily we get scammed, and our most extreme religions and unstable societies. first contact policies for any organized galactic union of species probably places "avoiding thousands of years of galactic crusades" at the top of the priority list and it is probable that every alien species in such a union either through genetic modification or a history of genocide achieved ethnic oneness or embraced that they are different species and accepted categorical differences among themselves and either recognized each species right to their own territory or developed a rigid but stable caste system, and of course the so called greys might be highly morphic like bees or ants.

If I rocked up on a planet i wad trying to colonize found a bunch of other aliens had beat me there and the damned rock is basically as well adjusted as your least well adjusted trailer park resident, I'd probably be marooned here with a bunch of retards and foreigners and be forced into an alliance with the other aliens. We would need resources to leave and return home and and this probably leads to an information and materials exchange. Our scientists from non material disciplines probably study the earth and human sociology.
If we were demanding anything from humans it would probably be coherent government and each species in this alliance likely has different ideas about what that looks like.
If you want to get into the federation of planets we probably need to purge some of our races, develop genetic engineering to make us smarter, stronger, more durable, more disease resistant, more suited for space living and alien contact, then social reforms to make us more approachable and integrateable into a galactic community.
Short list: purge troublemaker races, eugenics, economic and social stability, competent world government, a zero tolerance approach to bioweapon engineering(instant death penalty for every one involved) abandon the delusion of race and recognize we are different species and sub species. Some sort of negotiated settlements to permanently resolve racial and national grudges or time to heal such wounds.
Imagine being an alien and seeing a bunch of governments cause the ukraine war then run propaganda to create a grudge that could last a thousand years between two peoples that are essentially brothers. Would you get in bed with humans of the most advanced nations did that crap on their own planet?
