I have goats, chickens, guineas and geese, and the grass is a great food source. We cut it when it looks scraggly, but no longer worry about weeds as those are the very things they like to eat.
If it is put to good use then yeh, why not. But where I live it is pretty hot/dry.
I lIve in AZ, I like my rock yard. I have plants, desert plants and it looks great.
I would prefer a natural/wildflower yard, but the borough overlords won't allow that. It's 1. Keep it trimmed and within borough regulation or 2. Say fuck it and get a fine and deal with the bureaucracy. At a certain point I decided just to "cut my losses" and mow my grass 😂
