I've ran RSS2EMAIL on a machine for probably almost a decade, everything from an old PC that I had in the rack and was running XP (that was fun, memories of fake-sendmail and stunnel still make me shiver) to the one it's on now, an old RPi 3 that I haven't touched since about 2018 or so other than to clean up feeds every so often.

I only briefly stopped using RSS feeds. I’ve carried my feed list with me from Google Reader (shut down) through two other apps to Akregator. RSS doesn’t completely escape the enshittification. Most site’s don’t put the entire article content into their feed items. Many others can’t even be viewed in an RSS reader that doesn’t run JavaScript.

It gets around censorship and algorithms though.

What makes a good feed is good content. If you see a website you like look for an RSS feed and follow it if they have one. I view source and search for rss. Many websites have an RSS feed and don’t even know it because they’re using something like Wordpress that adds one for them.

The one you linked is interesting. He has content that he only publishes to his RSS feed. Apparently it’s a new trend called RSS Club (daverupert.com). It’s good to see content creators paying attention to RSS feeds again, even though it shouldn’t matter how they publish things.

The blog you shared is an odd one. He writes some decent software development content, but he also voluntarily participated in a 2023 COVID-19 booster vaccine trial (shkspr.mobi). I guess he’s typical; smart in some ways and naïve in others.

Yes I was looking at the technical stuff. I don’t know this person, but I can say for some I know that took the jab were fooled and are angry because they realize they were duped. But that same person has it down a cleanse protocol.

So fuck them eve though I might know and or love them.
