I do not give a fuck what the creator of gif says about the pronunciation, at all. He's a faggot if he pronounces it jif. He is grammatically/linguistically incorrect. It's not a proper noun, so it follows the rules of the language - ENGLISH, not his wishes. GIF is an acronym and it's spoken form - it's an acronym (NASA), not an initialism (FBI) - follows standard rules; even @Morbo, who I often disagree with, understands this much.
