I'm not a poet. I took a few creative writing classes over the years, and one dude actually challenged me for 3 weeks to swap writing styles. He was a hard core poet/lyric writer. I am, well, was, a major short story writer. To say the stuff I put out was VERY bad is an understatement
The beauty of poetry is that none of it is actually good, and nobody actually likes it.
I've largely worked past all those childhood issues. Don't need an outlet anymore. Not like that, anyway

One of the most important lessons I have learned in recent years is that sharing your thoughts and feelings, particularly about your own pain and suffering, should never be about yourself, as counter-intuitive as that may seem.
Someone told me that it is greedy to hoard your own pain all to yourself; that you don't share to 'unload' your pain, as is propagated by modern feminine psychology, but you share because there might be someone in the crowd listening, who thinks they are completely alone and unique in their pain, and sharing your pain could be helpful to them.
I don't want to pressure you to write about it, if you don't want to, you shouldn't.
But I would like you to consider that you shouldn't ever think writing about personal suffering is for yourself; It is always for the random person who thinks they are alone because their suffering is somehow unique.
