Honestly, I haven't done a ton of research on the topic, but I'm always wary of the government demanding to collect data on it's citizenry.

On the other hand, it's a good idea in that it would reduce illegal voting. Or at least, that's what they tell you.

Maybe I have a borked perspective, but I see certain MSM outlets like Fox pushing for VoterID super duper hard. But, why? What's the motication? Don't pretend to tell me it's because they care, because they don't. Fox is just as bad as CNN. Suck off Tucker all you want, he's still pushing an agenda for foreign billionaires.

So, what are your thoughts? Is VoterID a good idea? Is it just another agenda being pushed for a covertly nefarious purpose?

I think it's outrageous that they don't require it already. We have one political party in favor, and one against, that gives you a pretty strong indication of who benefits. The excuses are weak. Poor, minorities, and for some reason college students won't be able to obtain ID? Well negotiate easy and free access for everyone to get an ID. There is no excuse. This same party that dismisses election fraud insists our elections were hacked. And they mail out instructions on how to vote and who to vote for to immigrants even when they haven't achieved citizen status. It's obvious what they're doing and they need to be stopped.

Interesting.

So the repubs want voter id to stop illegal's from voting for dems. Dems obviously don't want voter id for that reason.

republican's do want illegals, because the corp slave labor is super cheap. But they don't get votes from them so voter id it is.

Thanks for your input!

I can't say they don't want voter ID specifically because of illegal immigrants, but you have a party that has been caught encouraging a form of illegal voting on one hand, and standing against a procedure that would prevent another form of illegal interference in our elections on the other hand. They'll take any opportunity they can get to cheat us over. And if you try to stop what's going on they'll label you with the most vile insults they can imagine and say you're the one trying to cheat.

Good analysis. You have a reasoned understanding of what's going on, imo

You need ID to buy a gun, booze, open a bank acct etc. Why not to vote? I agree with 's comment.

It’s good if it stops illegals voting or multiple voting or the dead from voting

Women shouldn't be allowed to vote.

Democracy is illegal, so the whole issue is irrelevant. Everything government does is for nefarious purposes.

democracy isn't illegal, it's just not the way the US government was originally structured.

But, yeah, usually when the government does something, there's an alterior motive.

Democracy violates the Non-Aggression Principle, therefore it is illegal.

Except the US doesn't constitutionally uphold such a principle (unless I've missed something).

Don't we need I'D to vote already? We need to register to vote and last I remember I had to show them my licence when I went to vote too.

It's not that way in all states. some states you can register to vote with nothing more than a pay stub from a company in that state addressed to "you".

I believe voter ID is on the federal level, so all states would essentially be required to participate lest they lose all them federal gibs.

Not in commiefornia. Don’t have to show shit. Just show up at the poll, state your address verbally, sign, vote. If your name isn’t on the registrar, you’ll be given a “provisional” ballot. If you vote leftie, they’ll count it. If not, they don’t. So messed up.

But, why?

It would not be needed. However, certain states hand out driver's licenses to non-citizens who show up at the polls and vote.

How about presenting an Id Or drivers license or passport that’s all it is.

ID is already needed for everything that we do, I’m actually surprised we don’t need it to vote. It’s actually weird that we don’t need it if you think about all the other things you do where you have to produce your ID.

I'm for it, as long as it isn't used to shut down the successful vote-by-mail we have that works great in some states. You need ID to get on the voter roles, but after that you are mailed a single ballot, fill it out, and return it. It's tied to ID / Drivers license so if those arn't renewed you get removed from the roles and no more ballots. The mailer envelopes the ballots are put in have unique ID codes on them to keep people from double voting, and see who is voting and who isn't but the ballots themselves inside are anonymized.

What kind of question is this?

What other kinds of things do you have to have an identification card for?
