Like if we can make a sport out of playing doom or madden fast why can we turn using firefox from boot into a sport.

Human tasks, TAS (how fast a program gets a job done), programming tasks, launch some application from boot. I think this could be just as interesting. Half of speed running is documenting glitches. It's not like tuning a boot process is more nerdy than what they are doing anyway.

I remember crApple used to do that with Mac OS X and design tools to compare G3 based PowerMacs vs. Pentium PC.
