When I was in high school we hosted a few diffrent exchange students with this organization https://www.yfuusa.org/.

Mostly it was fun and a good experience. We hosted a boy from chili and he did not click with our family so he ended up switching families and getting along with them well. He was just quiet and our house was not.
We also hosted Two boys and a girl from Germany, one girl from Finland, and a girl from Japan. Those all went really Well.

It's something that might be fun to do again but I think if we do it we will wait till our kids are older.

I was an exchange student. But I did it in uni. Hands down best half year of my life. Do it. Especially if you've got a few mates with ya, and the country has a low cost of living. It also expands your view of the world: it's bigger than just your small town or city.

I didn't do it in HS, but wouldn't it kinda suck having people (who aren't your parents) telling you what to do?

Idk, I never asked any of them that. Really in hs we have people other than our parents telling us way, like teachers?

My cousin was an exchange student in hs, she had a good time and went back and visted the family last yr.
