When I was in high school we hosted a few diffrent exchange students with this organization https://www.yfuusa.org/.

Mostly it was fun and a good experience. We hosted a boy from chili and he did not click with our family so he ended up switching families and getting along with them well. He was just quiet and our house was not.
We also hosted Two boys and a girl from Germany, one girl from Finland, and a girl from Japan. Those all went really Well.

It's something that might be fun to do again but I think if we do it we will wait till our kids are older.

I wanted to be one in high school, my parents said no. I hosted one when I had two children, one in high school and one in elementary school. It was a girl from Belgium. She developed a big crush on Mr. notme. Awkward. Her dad came and visited over spring break and wanted to cook Easter dinner for us. Wanted to make rabbit. I refused. We were NOT going to eat the Easter bunny for Easter dinner! Awkwardness ran in their family. The girl was never happy. We didn’t keep in touch after she left.

Wow, That would be awkward.
One of the German boys devolped a crush on me, he didn't tell me till he was leaving though and I just as nice is I could told him I thought of him as a brother.

His parents came to visit at the end of his stay and then they went and did some US site seeing. We had the German girls parents came too and we traveled with them a little bit if I'm remembering correctly.
