When I was in high school we hosted a few diffrent exchange students with this organization https://www.yfuusa.org/.

Mostly it was fun and a good experience. We hosted a boy from chili and he did not click with our family so he ended up switching families and getting along with them well. He was just quiet and our house was not.
We also hosted Two boys and a girl from Germany, one girl from Finland, and a girl from Japan. Those all went really Well.

It's something that might be fun to do again but I think if we do it we will wait till our kids are older.

In highschool I befriended an exchange student from Slovakia. He came over to hang out after school one day and my friends and I asked him if he smoked pot. He said yes so we smoked a bunch of it with him and then dropped him off with his host family. They freaked out on him and had him deported. Oops

Not your fault, I'm sure he knew that was a risk.
