That isn't me. That's basically creating a good twin so I can be the bad one and the dead one.
See this begs the bigger question, are you the same you that went to sleep last night? Its a break in your consciousness so is it any different than something like this?
They didn't say anything about transference of consciousness or memory. So maybe it would be like getting amnesia at least?
Clarification: it will have all your memories and quirks. You just won't be the one experiencing what happens in that new body. But the clone will have consciousness.
There will be no amnesia.
This is the Star Trek conundrum where anytime you beam up or down you are being killed and a new replica created.
Grisly business, but think of how much more you could get done with a 1000 year lifespan.
Think how bored you'd be after a couple hundred years when nothing new happens. Think how angry you'd be after 500 years listening to people under a 100 since they'd be thoroughly stupid. Also if they don't have a way to transfer your consciousness to the new body they're making a replacement for you.
Except for Riker that one time.
Can I do this when I'm on my death bed? I might do it if I didn't have much time left.
Any way, a clone would be like having an artificial twin that gets to live instead of yourself.
No we need to do it while you're young and healthy.
GODAMMIT!
Now you tell me.
Oh well.
You can change your vote if this changes your mind.
Tempting. Let me think about it for a few years.
Cut and paste instead of copy and paste is it?
pretty much
No thanks. If I was meant to live that long I would.
