When I was younger, drinking and partying till morning, then head to moms house for a big brunch to cure the hang over. Mom passed years ago and I am one of the elders of the family, so we host a big brunch on the first for all the young adults.
I'm thinking about getting the guys together and taking over some South American country...
Buy a puzzle and champagne, after dinner drink, talk, and assemble the puzzle.
Try to take over the world.
Last NYE I made some Brie done in the old world way. Take a Brie wheel (get one with the wooden box/basket) and melt it in the oven. I don't remember the time or temp, but you can look that up. You don't want to overheat it or the cheese will denature and turn to shit. Once melted at the center, remove it to a serving dish. Layer on some apricot preserves, a drizzle of honey and some walnuts. You can also add some crispy bacon for an added savory kick. Eat the cheese still warm with some crusty bread or water crackers.
The flavor combination seems odd but it is pure mana from heaven. Serve it with other finger foods and your choice of libations (White wine or champagne works best though). Thank me later.
Dinner with family and friends, countdown, shower, bed.
Anything interesting or special?
I don't want to do anything "big". We just had thanksgiving and Christmas so, it was a bit much.
Also, that sounds really nice. Happy (early) new year AOU.
Yeah, some nice Scottish single malt, cigars, music, fireworks on the bay, the usual.
It's just another day for me. Watch hockey, have a couple beers. Stay out of trouble.
