I use 3 in 1 silicone lubricant on hinges since I usually have it around for other stuff. It's cheap and usually stays pretty clean. You can hold a rag under the hinge and hit it with brake parts cleaner if it's super gunked up (better to disassemble and clean but I'm lazy sometimes). Just clean up any overspray, it'll ruin paint.
