Truly depends. I've had a root canal. Took 3 hours. It was a tooth near the front though. If the tooth is at the very back (like the last tooth) then I'd say extraction. If it's in the middle, you might have problems down the road if gap is filled in wonky by the teeth in front of and behind. Vote: Pain in just a figment of the imagination
