When I was away I was having a beer with my father and some chicken and chips. This poorly spoken mumbling homeless guy came up and started rambling to us. I looked at the guy and just ignored him. When he kept going I looked up and said no and then my father said go away. We were close to a cathedral and he started to ramble on about in broken English about Jesus and pointing to the church. I don't go to a physical church but I do believe. So I have guilt about not doing what potentially could have been the correct thing which I'm not sure what that would have been. Would I give him money or a couple chips? Personally I've had bad experiences with homeless people over the years as well I'm sure a bunch of people on here have.

The problem in my mind is that you're already likely paying him via your taxes and welfare programs. If you want to help needy people you would be better off volunteering at a food bank than giving cash on the street. Cash on the street will become drugs/alcohol every time.

Also remember that this is generally the way they're perverting our kindness against us. I would much rather you helped your direct neighbors or needy people in your direct community that YOU KNOW, and help them with actual help, not money. Real charity would be as simple as cutting an elderly neighbors lawn.

Giving away cash is more of a cuck move because you know you won't help anyone real and you can still pretend to be a good person.
