You don't want to teach babies not to cry. "Getting your kid to shut up" is a poor goal that many of the alleged methods are nad for baby's healthy development. Babies don't operate like manipulative adults.
If baby is crying see if it it's wet / hungry / cold and unswaddled / whatever. Lol for its needs. If it's fine it's fine. Then you can let it cry out out a little. But sometimes it just needs reassurance.
Very it out a little is different than just ignoring the crying. Checking if baby is good is different than dropping everything to every little baby whimper.
If you consistently (as @poalieMcPoalFace said) do these things baby quickly learns you're when needed, but also learns you will check and if he is fine move on. Then you get a happy healthy baby.
