Most linguists agree, that although Australians are capable of moving their tongues and vibrating their vocal chords, the sounds that they make are generally not regarded as a "language", at least in the proper definition of the word.

I've always thought the Australian accent sounded like the masculine version of the limeys.

For me it is somewhat akin to the squawking of a parrot; You can tell the creature is attempting to imitate the English Language, but there is no thought or reasoning behind the sounds made.

The Australian accent is nails on a chalkboard. I think I’d rather here a Vietnamese woman yell in broken English over listening to an Australian.

I regard a female speaking with an Australian accent to be very different from a male speaking with an Australian accent. I love the sound of the Australian accent with a woman's voice, but can't stand hearing a man speaking with an Australian accent.
