The weird thing is that lichen isn't really a plant, and lichen isn't even a single organism. A lichen is a fungus with an algae, both mutualistic, working together to eat rocks and absorb sunlight. The biology of them is bizarre, because the fungus couldn't exist without the algae, and the algae couldnt exist without the fungus. Weird shit.
