Title says it all.

Even living out in the middle of nowhere there were regular sonic booms over the city and the outlying area due to a few military bases in the general area.

Do you remember hearing those growing up? Do you remember when they "stopped"? I feel like it was sometime in the mid to late 2000's that the "booms" stopped.

Nothing else about this really. Just wondering if some people are still hearing these or if its basically not a thing anymore in the more populated areas.

I guess a lot of people hated it but I always thought it was interesting and amusing.. As long as it was during the day an not late at night. Those were annoying as hell.

I used to live along a flight path that constantly had fighter jets scramble and haul ass. The rumor at the time was that Russians were invading U.S. air space just so we'd have to fire up jets to get there fast and waste a whole bunch of money doing so. When the fighters got close enough to the Migs, the Migs would turn around and go land at their nearby air field and laugh at all of the money they just caused us to waste.
