Ordered a portable air conditioner from Home Depot today. My office is in a room that is absolutely baking because the wide area of windows that face the sun at the front of the house. It's totally disconnected (figuratively) from the back half of the house where the HVAC thermostat is. Thermal curtains and potted bushes on the porch in front of the windows only help a bit. It's a wave of heat hitting me as I'm at my desk.

Anyway, I did ship-to-store which is estimated 10 days from now. Even media mail, which I use to flip records on eBay, usually arrives across the country in like 5 days.

Their estimate is probably accurate because I already waited this long for my pressure washer to arrive. How?

It's probably due to the size and/or weight, plus the delicate nature of the compressor. Since it needs to be handled carefully they can't leave it to the diversity hires to just yeet it into the back of a truck. Additionally, most shipping services have had major issues with profitability so none of them want to carry something that could be replaced with a dozen orders with the same shipping cost.
