Great if you liked it. There were less than a dozen of us with crew cuts in elementary school.
Nah my mum had control of my hair as a kid. I didn't get my first haircut until I was more than 3 years old. She loved my ginger bitch curly hair.
No my grandpaw had a flow bee thing. It was much worst
I had to look up flowbee. A few of my friends had the home haircut at the kitchen table. They at least had longer hair than I did.
Couple of times, it wasn't as bad as the bowl cut though.
I walked a mile to the barber shop with my four brothers. I sat on the steps outside waiting for them...I was forbidden to go in. They all got buzz-cuts with that smell-good stuff. I'd spend the next couple days going from one to another just rubbing thir heads. Silly for a six-year-old, but great memories of fun and innocence.
I had a bowl cut until 13. It was awful...
I feel your pain! Lol!
We got the ol’ butch wax flat tops until about 6 or 7. Crafted perfectly flat personally by him. He had one that was so military perfect it said, “I’ll tear your fuk’n head off and shit down your throat”. I keep a pic of him in uniform on my fridge and everybody asks, “who’s this prick”? Three tours in Nam took that out of him though.
3 tours. That takes guts.
Even though he was infantry his hero was Patton. Blood and guts. That third one I think horrified him and he got far enough up the ladder he saw much like Patton did that it all wasn’t about what he thought it was. He ended up a master gardener in his later years.
Every summer, not crew, that was too fancy, just clippers with the smallest ski. I used to take my nephews for them too. During the school year it was kept off the collar.
No, on the first Saturday of summer vacation my dad would take me and later me and my step-brother to get a burr haircut. A naked cut down to the skin all over. When I was little I didn't care. As I got older I rebelled and it was a war of wills between us.
Spring and summer were the worst. We had mosquitoes, black flies, deer flies, moose flies and other assorted biting insects here and they loved my big head with virtually no hair. I became very fond of which I understand was discontinued in 1991 for containing 100% Ethylhexandiol. Maybe that's why my hair is falling out now.
Bowl cuts until they are 7. Then its crew cut.
