I'm old so I have music files all on network media instead of these cloud services like Spotify or whatever.

As such, I have lots and lots of them and the playlist (and management of the listing) becomes cumbersome and even causes apps to hang or even quit. Any suggestions on playlist management in a music player, or an individual solution to either?

What players are suggested out there? I use windows (for Steam/gaming when I do), but am also experienced in many flavors of *nix.

I used to use Mediamonkey, but then switched to iTunes only because of my iPhone. For $25 a year iTunes Match will upload every song and playlist and you can stream those songs from your phone via the cloud. I have many rare live recording an and every one of them uploaded to the cloud. iTunes still sucks if you don’t use a phone to stream
