I know it’s not really your niche, but I was wondering if any of you could recommend a wood chipper brand or model for making actual mulch.

Just to be clear, I want it for making mulch out of sticks and leaves and stuff so probably not the heavy duty ones some of you are using but more of an entry-level model. Or maybe I’d entertain something that’s dual purpose if it isn’t much more expensive.

Thoughts?

Edit: please no armchair pedophile hunters, want expert opinions only

I got the harbor freight one 600 or so a few years ago. It handles up to about 3 inches diameter +/-. You have to feed it in bursts and not let it pull the whole branch in or it'll kill the engine and clog. It does have good access panels for when that happens though.

Ah, thanks! Finally an actual recommendation instead of some joke.

yeah its a bit laborious but I have made some decent piles of chips in different areas of my yard, even used some for landscaping mulch. I've got mostly southern pine branches so its perfect diameter. My only complaint is that the top chute doesn't feed well and sometimes spits out unchipped branches. PREDATOR 6.5 HP (212cc) Chipper Shredder this is it and its 579 right now in my area, sign up for their coupons and it'll be cheaper. There are similar available at Lowes and HD, probably built in the same factory in china. I'm happy with it.
