We roast our own beans, so I rarely get reminded just how bad some brands are. But traveling the past few days has made it clear to me that Maxwell House tastes like burnt-from-4-hours-on-a-burner even when made fresh. Folgers is pretty decent, and 8 o'clock is just damned good.

Or is that just me?

I buy whole beans, Kirkland Columbian at Costco, but when in a pinch I'll buy 8 O'clock Italian Roast which is decent. I haven't bought canned coffee in 40 years.

thats the good stuff! I like it, but had to stop getting it because of low funds. now we mostly get Folgers, its just right for the price, though I wouldnt suggest preground coffee as a connoisseur

Could never get into coffee. I tried but just can't do it. Fucking taste is horrible regardless of brand.

Maxwell House has a very repugnant taste and smell. Not sure what gives it that distinct taste but I have no idea how people can drink that. I dig cafe bustelo espresso style. I really don't mind Folgers either in a pinch.

My grandparents drank Maxwell House, and they had extremely hard water. Most of my earliest memories from visiting them when I was younger include that smell (ugh) and the floating scum in the carafe (gag.) To this day, that smell and that taste almost make me gag.

IMO maxwell is one of the worst preground coffees out there.

I buy whole beens in bulk for daly drinking. I do have some canned Cafe Dumonde chicory coffee we have on Sundays. I prefer the Italian coffees if I need to get one on the road, Illy, Medaglia D’Oro, or Lavazza. If I am in the sticks Hills Brothers over Foldgers over Maxwell house over Chock full of Nuts.

Folgers is based in Louisiana, you're probably drinking some made by a bunch of negroes at that point. Then again, any coffee bean you get unless it's from Hawaii, is bound to have a nigger involved someway or another.

Eight o'clock 100% Columbian, but I recently found Tim Hortons 100% Columbian. Both great coffees

roast our own beans

We get regular deliveries from these guys... pretty legit.

They’re all about the same quality.

Chock full o' nuts.

That's what I'm running today.

It's ground beans for me. I did like the millstone beans you could grind in the store, but normally it is can of cheap coffee into the auto drip. I like good coffee and am almost as happy to drink bad coffee.

Kirkland Signature is great, and economic.

I have tried Maxwell; it sucks, there is no way. Folgers is okay, but not for me. I've never heard/tried 8 o'clock, but I already have KS.
