I love a good steak and vegetables with mashed potatoes and some wine and beer.

But I'm perturbed.

I've known my wife's sister in personal settings for over 5 years. I never heard her use a fake voice before to other tables. A fake, high pitched, overly friendly thing I've never heard. My wife said to ignore it but is this normal? I rarely go out let alone to a sister in laws job.

Is this normal for females to fake an accent and talk in a strange, fake, overly friendly, high pitched voice that isn't normal?

I don't trust her anymore.

Customer service is theatre.

Yeah she was a completely different person, yet since I know her she didn't use it with us and no other tables noticed.

She's a fake and I don't like it.

She has to get the general public to like her and her paycheck and ability to eat and pay rent depends on it.

The general public is awful though. They really are cretins. I've refused to ever have a public facing job. If they respond to her fake voice and tip more because of her act then she has to do it.

She probably doesn't like being a dancing monkey either. Anyway I won't judge her for it.

The general public is awful though

Why are they always niggers?

I see a pattern here.

You give them an inch they take mile.

I just dislike seeing a two-faced person after marriage with her sister snd had a steady friendship. I've worked my whole life, I don't use a fake hyperactive accent entirely built on fake positivity.

It just bugs me.

It's a job. She does that to treat everyone with respect in the same way as that is her role. Of course she is "fake" in her immediate affection towards strangers. This is her job. Stop overreacting.

Do you really think all those waitresses and bartenders were really that into you?

No. I don't like fake behaviors. I disregard them and know they aren't being real.

Your sister-in-law is acting. Part of her job is a persona. When I used to work at my old job I punched an acting clock as well. It's like you're a Disney store door greeter. Yes fuck Disney but you have to pretend because it's your job. She's offering a service and she's putting on a show so she can also get a nice tip. I wouldn't let it bother you

It's amazing how people respond differently to tones of voice. That's why I don't work with people. Its hard to act like I give a fuck

Waiting tables is a different kind of prostitution. All servers, male and female, learn that fake voice.

I've never had a job being around women. That's about to change because I have an interview with a retail job walking distance from the house. I'm eager to help us earn some extra cash so we can afford to move out of here before we hit our deadline. After a long dry spell with no one calling me back after all the applications I sent out I was shocked two places hit me back up on the same day. the other job is what I'm more familiar with and wouldn't have me interfacing with the public but it's farther away, about a 30 minute drive. We have one car and Fiance's job takes priority over my potential job.

TLDR: I'm probably about to find out what it's like to work with women in retail

I can tell you having worked with women as a nurse keep yourself completely formal. They most certainly are not your friend.

(edit:) I was not impressed on my side of the interview. She was stricktly formal and i'm not looking forward to working with her to be honest, even though nothing really went wrong. Just a dead look in her eyes like she was looking at one of the millions of people she meets in a day. I dont like meeting that many people. My fiance thinks it would be better for me as a woman to be with and work around other women, but i dont think he would be saying that if he was a woman. I prefer being the token woman in a shop, but thats probably not fair to the men working there.

they just said it will be two weeks before they can get back to me with their proper background check. I think I'm going to check out the other job, i did well on the phone call interview and now i've been invited on a walkthrough in their shop. maybe i can talk them in to a couple more dollars an hour. they are full time so thats better than the other place, but this place is a half hour drive. not that bad, but not as good as walking distance.

I had numerous FBI background checks. It takes days not weeks. They're blowing you off.

There is an accent some English women have. It is loud and penetrating. Many people find it to be vulgar. It originated in the factories of the 1800s so that the women could be heard over the noise of the machines.

Your sister-in-law may be making herself heard through the conversation and clatter of dozens of other humans who are sharing the dining area with you.

OP should get over himself

Tips. It’s about getting better tips.

Why would you not be overy happy as your job depends on it. Lax servers suck ass and I fucking hate them. If they are willing to put on a fake smile, chances are my drink will stay filled and requests go answered. It's the ones with no show that don't give a fuck they just brought your $40 plate out and your drink is empty.

I go out to eat for service, why else go out? Food is better at home so why else? Service.

Here you are judging someone for doing their job well. You're the ignorant one here, I promise. I only say that as you've stated she has given you no other reason to be suspicious.

Being a waitress is a performance, especially as you get higher up in quality of the establishment. She's likely been explicitly trained to talk to patrons like that. It's no different than if you saw her in a play portraying a character. You wouldn't think she might be a murderer just because she played a murderess in a fictional performance.

I think it comes unconsciously, especially when a person is insecure or concerned with how another person might react negatively.
