Even if you use religion, we are here and we are gone.

Everyone can do good things.

Doing good things for others without recognition is its own reward most of the time.

A person doing good deeds, doesn't have a pointless life.

Get out and volunteer at some orgs you would consider supporting. Help some of those who cannot help themselves who deserve your help. Disabled vets and the elderly and alone, are the examples I tend to consider. Those people aren't always amazing to be around, but the feeling you get when you've made their life better...

That is worth doing it again and again.

why is that not pointless, in the grand scheme of things? Are not their lifes pointless also?

Living a good life isnt pointless. I affect others and through the affect i have on others. My life has mattered. I have made other lives. I have made others lives better, I have made others lives worse. I have taken others lives.

I know which of those I prefer to do. I know that my impact, by making others lives better, has a point. To make the world a a better place than i found it.

You have to stop thinking on the whole large everything is jewed and fucked mentality, cause sure, we have to do more work there than we are willing to do at this point, and if you only think about those things... I can maybe see your side of the equation.

I let those issues go. Take for example the volunteer work i do for one of my local legion posts. Do i believe the entire US government system that my legion post supports, is jewed up? Yes indeed. I volunteer my help, not for the government support we give, not for the 50c i get off drinks, not for the "American Legion" itself. I do it for the community that exists there.

Those people appreciate it, cant do it for themselves, the "legion" wont come to the rescue. We have a group of vets, who go there, that are taking care of the place. Much of the customer base they have there is nam vets that still come in often. They get driven to the place by their family or uber, and taken home the same way. Hell the place keeps a walker, wheelchair, and cane on hand in case on gets broke in as visit... I love those old guys, some days they are too much. They needed a few younger vets to help mentally and spiritually rejuvenate some of them and modernize the place they spend all their time.

Costs me only some of my spare time. Where I hang out and volunteer with friends... Spending time with those I enjoy spending time with, while helping other people. Hell, that my friend, after procreation, is the meaning of life. Enjoying your time with those you care for...

Have you ever read Ligotti speaking on Tolstoy's thoughts in The Conspiracy against the Human Race?

Good read.

[–] [deleted] 2 pts

When was that written? No I haven't.

[–] 2 pts

I wanna say 2008, but I am not sure.

Don't read it.

It will make you want to kill yourself.

all pointless in the end

Can you know that others consider it pointless? I hate the sad sack niggers but somehow they keep on finding a reason not to off themselves each day, the useless breeders.

[–] 1 pt

I dont believe others do, as the responses to this post speak.

Does it have to have a point? We just do what we think is best and then die. If we ever will find out what is the point of life it will be in the afterlife. To find out if there is afterlife we have to first die.

All in it's own time.

[–] 1 pt

If so it must be a supremely crowded afterlife. I didnt say it had to have a point, I said its pointless.

[–] 2 pts

It is pointless and it's good that it is.

someday maybe we can talk, but Im afraid your life experience might eclipse mine.

I think that when you look at the enormity of the galaxy and our completely insignificant roll in it you can't help but realize that our lives are pointless. So consider yourself lucky to even exist at all and make the best of it, go have some fun bro.

Ever since man is born, he signs a contract with Death. He must, sometime, go. This is the utmost true and factual happening of all living things; you must die.

With this in mind, all living beings come to this world, with a contract to fulfill. Which one is yours? No one knows. You only know you are alive, right now. And all your baggage must be put to some use, somehow. And you will leave a legacy, a mark, in this world, whether you want it, or not. Someone, somewhere, will tske your life as example for something. What will you leave here when you are gone? Only the one who put you here knows. The closest to that is your own father. If he is a failure as a man, you'll have to find answers yourself. And make sure your children dont, because its always a more tortuous path than having your father guide you.

And thats not pointless how?

[–] 0 pt

Only those not worth living do not have a point living.

[–] 0 pt

well that certainly explains it

[–] 1 pt

Explain why you don't kill yourself and you'll have your answer.

Good discussion. I think it's either pointless, it's a massive digital program, or we're reincarnated to keep learning until we reach a level of enlightenment that we transcend to a higher level of consciousness. The whole "I believe " therefore I'm above all and will transcend to paradise seems more like Ego massaging to me. EGO, now there's a very important part of humanity that needs far more discussion and teaching. Why is it that it's rarely discussed?

No you have to find meaning in your own life

[–] 0 pt (edited )

Life on Earth is a training simulation for our soul. The separation from God which is the cause of most of our problems is just an illusion.

We keep reincarnating until we find our way back to God. That is the point of the simulation/life.

[edit] This video of a near death experience showed up on my feed today which explains the meaning of life - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUEBkcKymM4
