I purchased some goods with a hundred dollar bill, case of beer and some smokes, if you must know. Not usually. You kind of have to flirt with people when you are in that position. When I was bartending I had to do such things.

It keeps them coming back and paying your rent.

I agree there are certain jobs, especially tip related that benefit from this, but cashiers aren't tipped. I think she gives a little extra attention because she wants to be noticed by those she has noticed. It's human nature. Without the extra touch, would anyone have remembered her?
