It's good in the context of the action films surrounding it, it's a film directed by a stunt man and it directly addresses the failings of contemporary directors to direct good and coherent action at that time. It also had no pretense of any libtard bullshit, its just an action movie and the lead actor is well liked and though people don't think of him this way he might be the most famous action film star alive or ever considering how the matrix influenced film history and culture at an international scale. I also think plot simplicity is important most people are retarded so a simple revenge over dead dog plot works well at keeping them entertained and informed even if you are a tard that can't read or notice any subtext the plot still makes sense to you where as even mass appeal blockbusters rely so much on subtext now to tell "interesting" or "novel" stories that plebs can't follow the plot ot understand the ending.
People also just like when an actor commits to prepping for a role.
I'm not praising the sequels mind you they get progressively worse.
