A farmer produces a harvest and then sticks it in the granary. I would assume that he knows how much he put in there, but then what, is there a broker that manages the sale of it afterwards? Are all the grains the same? What if farmer A has better grain than farmer B and then they're all mixed in there. What happens then? I'm in Illinois currently in and I'm in a town that has a bunch of granaries and it got me thinking about how it all works.

I wonder how they fight off rodents and other pests. I'm up in Wisconsin now, i would love to find a place with some granaries. I would just ask see what they say, that is if there's any anyone to talk to

Well the silos are mostly metal and concrete so they don't get in often but, the loading and unloading areas get plenty of spillage. The area where trucks are loaded have grated floors with a pit underneath, these are a haven for rats. I used to stand around with a pellet gun as a kid and shoot them as the trucks were being loaded.
