I searched Poal already and found a bit of info on this but not much. I've watched a ton of videos lately and I'm pretty sold on giving it a shot.

Any Poalers have any experience with the Carnivore diet? 98% of the videos and comments I have seen are positive and if their claims are accurate I think it could be a good decision.

I have been beef+water+salt for 1 1/2 years, keto before that but I struggled. For me, it’s all or nothing, I can’t do a little bit of carbs. Food becomes something you do to survive and life takes its place as a source of enjoyment. Have to work for your kicks now

off adhd meds and never get sore after gym so I don’t take rest days. Feel like a teenager again. Skin keeps shrinking, keep making gains. People seem to notice but they must think it’s just how I am. I wasn’t always happy, muscular or low body fat

I’m convinced we’re obligate carnivores

Do it for a month and try not to get a pay rise

Sounds like the experience i had then i relaxed and ate some junk and went out to restaurants = becoming fatter then i ever had been so far i got stretchmarks. Trying to find my way back now.

I've never gone full carnivore. I've done Atkins and keto. Atkins was hard on my body, but keto is really amazing. I'd assume carnivore would be great. I've never done it because I just plain can't afford it. I fast (day and night so something like 36-40 hours) Monday, Wednesday, and Friday every week.

I've lost a ton of weight and kept it off. I'm still not thin by any stretch, but between the diet/fasting and my thyroid meds I'm not as gross anymore.

I've been one meal a day 5 days a week for a couple years now and that has gone pretty well. I am thinking of trying carnivore for the health benefits that I have been seeing people talk about.

Yeah, the non-fasting days are typically one meal a day for me. You'd think with how little I actually eat, that I'd be thin, but stupid thyroid (Hashimoto's) really makes that difficult. Especially, since I'm constantly tweaking my meds to keep where I need to be thyroid-wise. Stress will change my numbers or having an allergic reaction can knock them out of whack, too. It's hard for me to avoid allergies just because I live in an apartment complex and my neighbors are awful and the management are useless. Everyone here is obsessed with smoking black and milds and weed and then using air fresheners and lord only knows what else to then cover up the stank. I happen to be allergic to cigarette smoke and have issues with perfumes.

Someday, if I ever get a place where I can fit a decent freezer, I'll give carnivore a try, but for now it's low-ish carb and one meal/fasting. Oh and I love making my own dairy stuff. Just wish I could get heavy cream without freaking gellan gum/carageenan in it. I love homemade yogurt, sour cream, etc.

My woman has Hashimotos too, so she had me look into that and from what I can tell Carnivore is great for it and helps a lot.

If you can source raw dairy, do it. I've been part of herdshares for over a decade and the fees are high, but the quality is worth it. Lactose intolerant, but I have no issues with raw, likely because the dairy still has its own digestive enzymes plus natural probiotics.

Helps my seasonal allergies and sinus infections a ton. It can't overcome cigarette smoke bullshit, but it can at least regulate the natural allergens out there. I went from 2-4 sinus infections each year to 0.

I am in the process of going full carnivore. I have a large bag of almonds I need to kill off before I get there go.

I can tell you I have been 85% carnivore for the past three weeks.

I can tell you that I have been feeling better than I have in years for the past two weeks; However, that could be due to my diet, my prayer regimen, me escaping from the sober house and getting my own apartment, or the standard winter depression lifting as spring arrives.

It is hard to say which of those things is making me feel amazing.

Interesting. I have heard a lot of folks say that the first month is brutal. Constipation, or diarrhea, hang over feelings, tired. But they say if you make it through that then it gets way better and you feel better than ever after awhile.

[–] 1 pt

oh, the diarrhea is absolutely real. But I haven't felt tired or shitty at all.

[–] 1 pt

Stick with it, they say it goes away.

[–] 2 pts

I'm an omnivore. I need meat but also vegetables, dairy and fruit.

[–] 1 pt

The only downside side I've heard of is some people get diarrhea at the start for a while as their body clears out a bunch of shit.

[–] 1 pt

Yes, that, or the opposite, constipation. But my understanding is that clears up after a couple weeks.

I have played with a number of diets over the years, including carnivore.

You will 100% feel better, look better, function better, etc if you get rid of processed crap. Carnivore does that. But it is so restrictive that it is expensive, difficult to accommodate, at times unfun, etc.

If you wanna do it cause the rules are easy to remember, you like meat, sure go for it. But you don't need to get rid of all that, just get rid of the processed crap.

I do think one of the reasons people like it and have success though is the strictness. Some people can't have an apple without that triggering a sugar craving and back on goy slop. But the apple itself isn't the problem.

No diet is without its cons. Carnivore diet has a lot of inflammation and requires gut cleansing every week to fully harness its benefits

[–] 0 pt

That's a new one on me, I've watched a ton of videos on it the past few days and I have never heard that mentioned. I will look into it, thanks.

Meat is harder to digest and stays in the gut longer, causing micro inflammations in your body which can be insignificant, but adds up if you have other inflammation habits, like working out. Its important to eat a small amount of fibrous vegetables when going keto, and taking a meal of the week to be composed when in solids, of exclusively fibrous vegetables. A high dose of vit C in the same day also helps your body self-regulate. Keto flu is exactly that; your body gets too busy fighting gut inflammation and lets the lungs get slightly overwhelmed.

It also helps to keep a variety of protein sources. Fish, red meat, poultry and dairy cycled will always keep your body well-maintained.

Right on, thanks for the input. I appreciate it.

Pretty sure TV Guy Al Michaels has never eaten a vegetable.

ZERO people his age that have never eaten meat.

[–] 1 pt

I don't know man. It's not natural. Humans are omnivores. Maybe try it intermittently. Two weeks on two weeks off. Just avoid processed foods. It really is that simple.

[–] 0 pt

I rarely eat vegetables already and one of my main concerns is all the shit they spray on the vegies these days. I also watched a couple videos that make a pretty good argument that we are not really omnivore. All the major plant eating mammals have multiple stomachs while all the meat eaters only have one stomach.

That's Herbivores and Carnivores. No offense to you, but that's a really dumb argument.

Bear Groundhog Fennec Fox Raccoon Opossum Gorilla Monkey Ostrich Pig/Boar/Warthog Snapping Turtle Rat Squirrel Chipmunk Coyote Skunk Crow Badger Catfish Etc.

All omnivores, all have one stomach.

There is also more than one type of Carnivore. Facultative Carnivores and Obligate Carnivores. Facultative Carnivores also eat plant material. Obligate Carnivores can't process plant material at all. Humans are Omnivores.

[–] 1 pt

No offense taken, it wasn't my argument, I was telling you about a couple videos I had seen. I still have lots of research to do.

I was Paleo with carnivore leanings for a long time. Best health of my life. Your cholesterol will go through the roof, so you may have a doctor try to put you on meds, but just ignore them or find a better doc.

Depending on how bad your body is, transitioning may be brutal, or may just feel a bit like the flu. Take lots of salt, it will help. Eat until you're stuffed at first, then you'll figure out eating when hungry and stopping when full.

You'll likely find yourself naturally fasting because you just aren't hungry. For men, excess fat will fall off fast. Women may take longer, but will still see great results.

I'm getting back to a better diet, and lost 30 pounds of pure fat in 6 months without any exercise, thyroid fuckery, and not even being 100% perfect In my eating. Definitely recommend giving it a try for at least 90 days and see how you feel.

[–] 1 pt

I'm leaning heavily towards it. I already only eat one meal a day on most days. I also eat hardly any veggies. Just gotta give up the breads, pastas, and sugar.

In my 20s I decided to do a month of carnivore and vegetarian each. I felt like garbage on vegetarian the entire month, but was very 'regular'. Carnivore month I felt great, but was shitting liquid for half of the month. What I took from this was that I now eat a lot more meat, a serving of vegetables about twice a week and avoid bread wherever I can.
