Then I am happy to share this with you before you ever run into it. The locking in isn't so much the issue, but spinning out in a little bit of snow or ice because your bed was empty is a problem. If you ever find yourself in someplace that has more winter than you're used to, remember to put some weight in your bed, even if you have to shovel snow in there and pack it in. That will stop you from spinning out like a chink changing lanes on a perfectly flat and dry stretch of road.
Shouldn't be a huge issue. No always leave the snow that accumulates in the bed since I park outside
