Apparently phone was found at work of my friends buddy. They tried to get a hold of the owner but they never responded back. So my friends buddy gave it to my friend. And my friend said well since they tried and they got nothing do you want the phone. I said sure why not. But now I have the phone and I'm thinking did they really try to find the owner? The phone is unlocked so I can browse around. There's Google Gmail on it but it's full so you can't use it. Plus the Gmail account isn't for the person who looks to be the owner. Looking at what's on the phone it looks like the owner is a female juggalo from the Midwest. When I turn it on it shows the carrier. They have a couple of driver's license is on it of various people. I looked up the one that looked like it belonged to the phones owner and it shows them at a new address. My first thought was that they had died, that's why they never got back to the original queries. It seems that they were sharing the phone with various people and doing gig work because I found various driving apps on the phone. What do you all think?

I found a phone a couple of years ago on the side of the road and I was able to give it back to the owner within 48 hours. They were over the moon happy but is this different? This is 7 months and the person never got back to the people who reached out. It's only a few years old and a flagship Samsung phone. I wonder if they had insurance on it and that's why they don't care?

I would feel gross using someone else's phone. I hate even holding someone else's when they hand it to me

A good point. I haven't put a phone to my ear in years. Radiation and all. I'm sure after 7 months the juggalo juice is dead so touching it would be fine.

Anything about magnets on it? For example how do they work?

[–] 2 pts

No but the owner has a really bad back tattoo and a couple of spiclets running around

I'd try to contact the owner, then physically clean the phone, do factory reset, and enjoy a malware-filled Samdung phone.

android is just another word for cia but apple isn't any better imo

the harder it is to return means the more karma points you receive once the deed is done

The best I could do at this point would be to hand it over to her carrier. But we all know it ain't going to get to the owner that way either just eBay.

I'd throw it in a box with a label to the last known address and be done with it.

Perhaps it'll be forwarded successfully. Perhaps comes back to you, then you know it was meant to be.

I'm thinking when I get back home from this trip my father and I are going on in a couple of hours I'll try another attempt and if someone pings me back I'll just go to the post office and put it in some bubble wrap and send it along.

Keep the phone. Root it, put a new sim in it, it's yours now. Finders/keepers and all that.

How did they reach out, by calling the phone that they lost?

[–] 1 pt

Don't know. My friend didn't know either.

just throw it in the bin for recycled electronics and be done with it. it will give you peace of mind.

phones are a throwaway commodity these days.

[–] 1 pt

No shit. They want $120 to fix a cracked glass on a phone I paid 160 for.

[–] 1 pt

Interesting problem solve. But truly might be the best course of action.

[–] 1 pt

What kind of moron doesn't have basic lock protection on their phone these days?

[–] 2 pts

A juggalo apparently.

I'm surprised juggalos are a thing still. I remember a group of them when I was about 12 in school back in 2004. They were very strange.

I guess the term juggalo just means Midwestern trash that listen to really bad music and are probably on meth with a couple of kids. I guess you could probably say machine gun kelly trash as well which is just as fitting.

I found one in a bush outside my house. I went to ask neighbor, said it aint his. I asked if maybe one of the landscape dudes (he dont cut his own grass or rake leaves) might have lost it. Said nope. I called the county sheriff and gave it to them. I did try to turn it on but it was dead.

Find the juggalo and go chicken hunting
