Plant fruit trees. Maybe not next year, but a few years from now, you'll be happy you did.

Exercising, eating healthier, and saving towards retirement.

Get an amateur radio license and communicate with fellow Polar Bears over the waves.

Nothing can ensure your life will be better but there are lots of things that can make the probability of your life being better in a year more likely.

Make a habit of doing something introspective every day.

Some ideas:

  • Meditate.
  • Paint or draw without music playing.
  • Go for a walk alone without any headphones.
  • Sit silently and think about the day ahead for a moment when you first wake up. Do this for at least 3 minutes.
  • Put your feet up and mentally walk through a memory. Remember details. Remember details about the details.
  • Do an online or offline or anything spiritual that requires no talking (and certainly no money).
  • Smoke a joint and don't consume any form of media for 1 hour.
  • Build something
  • Work out by yourself with no music or video.
  • Make a bonfire and cook some food by yourself.
  • Think about the life of the first person you see after reading this.
  • Look at the moon, stars and sky and remember you live in the universe.
  • Be mindful

Be that person for a year, and you'll be happier, more centered, healthier and wiser.

Best answer. Are you married? Asking for a friend of a friend.

Start making some mead.

Because it will be ready in about a year.

Deduct 1 hour from TV/Netflix/whatever or online time and instead read physical or kindle type book. I mean reading in a comfy chair or relaxing spot, not in front of a computer screen.

Floss every day.

Make a list of all the reasons you hate specific websites (e.g. Reddit, Youtube), and never go to them, re-read the list (and/or add new reasons there) every time you have the urge to check them. Boycott websites.

Pray/go to adoration as much as you can. Study the Word of God. You will be amazed. Even if you don't believe, just start studying here or there. Maybe even sign up to take an RCIA class (Right of Christian Initiation) if you dare. You don't have to believe. Go there to argue if you want. We LOVE it when someone comes in with a long list to refute. The class is a good way to really learn about Catholic church history. I get tickled at conspiracy theorist who think they have discovered some profound truth about the Catholic church and it's actually really common knowledge (🤦🤦🤦)

I don't watch TV - I don't have a TV subscription either.

I don't watch Netflix.

I don't watch Sports.

I don't watch Movies. - 99% of the time - every once in a blue moon or maybe 2x a year.

I have a cheap phone to as well. $115 - cheap cell phone. Don't really use it that often either as well. Only a distraction to as well. I try to find activities / hobbies I can do.

Save money and time this way.

I don't have a television in my living room upstairs either. I set up a personal work place around DIY type stuff with a desk out there and I have a couch / table to as well. If my mind gets over worked I can just lay down on the couch out there.

I chucked the talmudvision out years ago, can't believe i ever had one of those goddamn things.

Cheap plan does more than a cheap phone. I'm paying $10 a month. There is no reason to pay more than that.

Wtf mate how in the fuck are you pulling this off?

US mobile. Their customer service used to be great but I think they got bought. So the customer service is medium quality now.

The downside is that you pay for everything proportionally. (Like how all other goods are sold). That saves you big money but data is pretty easy to run out on. I just don't watch youtube over mobile and I save a good $40 a month compared to most people.

Yeah, markets, when they actually function they make people make reasonable choices with limited resources. But it's honestly not a living hell using some discretion about how resources are used. (Imagine someone being shocked that you don't use entire cow cascaras for shooting practice as part of your meat plan, and instead pay for actual burgers as you eat them. And they inquisitively ask you can live that way.)

I want to switch to Skype or look up something like that. I could pay $2-$5 a month myself for now at least.

I have a $40 a month pay as you go for now though at least.

Could you make a post telling us about some of your projects?

[–] [deleted] 2 pts (edited )

maybe at some point.

I'm doing more entertainment projects to be posted / shared to poal right now which can be very stupid like untraceable ghost spoon technology, but I also have been doing some video game modding of my own for now at least to as well.

check out to as well. I've that over there for now at least.

I do a wide range of things and go from place to place.

Got this to start. Again I go in and out of different things, but right now I'm working on more stupid fun entertainment type stuff.
