Some friends and I use [Session](https://getsession.org/). It’s anonymous, end to end encrypted, and apparently runs on a distributed network. I haven’t tried [Tox](https://tox.chat/), but it looks even better. It doesn’t run on iPhones or Macs, but you probably shouldn’t send anything sensitive to those devices anyway.
