While electronic things are faster, I think going online, and generally using computers instead of pen and paper has been a significant failure in many respects. While productivity initially increased, it seems to now be dropping, and people are stupider as a result. Moving from paper to everything online is only selectively better, yet for some reason we've gone at it whole hog, in every single aspect of life. Tasks are being done faster, but less reliably. No one is organised because the computer is supposed to take care of that, and when it inevitably fucks up everyone is clueless. I'm pretty sick and tired of being told things cant be done in person anymore, and I need to go and do it on my phone, because much of the time it just doesn't work. Now now one is careful or methodical, they've lost patience, and the ability to think has become a rare commodity. Kids have no attention span. Schools have now lowered their standards so much that I hardly recognise the presence of education anymore. Am I just getting cantankerous? Is this all a big mistake?

I still think the biggest mistake was giving the internet to the unwashed masses. Things like facebook and twitter should have been killed off before they had a chance to take root.
