Is anyone here from alaska? What are the pros and cons of living in the great state? While i do not expect to find many Poalrs there, from a tax point of view, it looks tempting. what are your thoughts? Is is crawling with far left loonies or simple folk who want to be left alone?

i do hear that there is good money to be made there... i like to hunt and fish, and i'll probably be taking some people with me. i spoke with a guy who lived there for 20 years and he said, nothing compares to alaska. tell me, how did your brother get a mining gig? can anyone do it, or do you have to know someone?

Best bet is to find the mining companies operating in the area you're interested in. I've figured the best way to move to a new place is to find the job first, then make the move.

He started out changing tires in a tire shop 10 years or so back. Kept trying to get on. Took a few classes to help his resume. GI bill. Proud of him.

i'm looking to get into the fishing industry myself, would also take a mining job if i could. like with anything else, you have to keep trying.
