thanks for this. the area that i'm looking at seems to have the best climate there, but i dont have any illusions. the first thing people will tell you is how brutal the winters can be. with that being said, the people seem to be of a different lot than where i am. people up there tend to look out for each other more and they also seem to take their homes seriously. while i do not expect to travel back in time, i think that alaska offers much of what i am after. the cost of living will probably be what turns me away, but they also do not have many of the usual taxes so there is that.
