My 20s. The specific years don't matter, but mid 80s to mid 90s just to answer the question accurately. I grew up dirt poor, but at 20 got a job that became a career, got my shit together,and learned to budget my income, excel at my job (machinist,) perform maintenance on a house, and learned to cook. Things that are no longer practiced, despite there being unlimited free information literally in the palm of everyone's hand.

People in their 20s don't do that any more.

NAFTA was hitting its stride and further accelerated the offshoring of US manufacturing. The brief flicker and flame of a brighter future sparked when The Wall came down 6 years prior was pissed on and away by Machiavellian puppeted clowns.
