The problem is that many poisons are allowed into the chain while still allowing the organic label. Personally, I don't trust the organic label.
I really don't either, but the only other alternatives are to grow /raise all your own food including the feed required to raise you meat source. Then the butchering. As a first generation farmer, how would one even undertake such a momentous task?

You don't. You're setting your goal way too high and would be doomed. Respectfully, your sights lower. Don't try to grow all your own food- how about just making yourself self sufficient with one high value product, like eggs? Just that one goal is big enough for many folks, at least for a while. Then once you get proficient in egg production you can learn how to process chickens for meat, since you already have chickens around. Or for gardening, grow a small garden but not with the goal to replace your trips to the grocery. Rather, learn how to preserve what you grow. Canning, dehydrating and freeze drying are all skills to learn. Grow specific produce to try different preserving methods. Only once you have those kinds of skills in place are you ready to start growing big gardens and thinking about true self sufficiency.
Solid advice, I've been raising some chickens for almost a year now, still getting the hang of it, also attempting to clear a wooded lot with a chainsaw and a brush cutter is a lot of work, didn't really want to pay for someone to come in with heavy equipment to remove all the trees and destroy the very little topsoil we have. Its way more than I expected.
Yep, i just focus on avoiding all overly processed/ packet/ convenience foods esp all the additives/ preservatives/ food colors / artifical flavors etc, all goyslop, all soda and never add refined sugar to anything (except 1 teaspoon in my only coffee of the day - a triple shot expresso with full cream) . i mostly purchase from a small free range/ grass fed butchery - free range eggs (natures protein bombs). Of course it is not 100% foolproof, however i'd like to think it eliminated probably 80-90% of the crap in my food and my physical/ mental health has improved massively since i began circa the beginning of the holo-cov .
The extra cost associated with 'free range/ organic' is personally off set by noticing i dont feel hungry between meals and dont need to spend money on constant gorging of cheap snack foods all day long. Nutrient dense foods win over HCFS/ seed oil/ sugar drenched goyslop all day long.
EDIT: One also has to do their own research into what different organic products on offer actually means.
Agreed. I go to local farms and buy from them. I won't buy meat from a grocery store where you don't know where the meat is from.
I want enough land that I can grow my own fruits and veggies. My wife claims she's too old to start farming, to which I responded, "You're too old to grow your own food?" She looked at me dumbfounded like she only learned in that moment that was even a possibility.
I then went for the jugular with raising our own beef cows and could have good steaks whenever we wanted.
